Galina Mihaylova Promoted to Director of Design

TMP Architecture, a leader in educational planning and design, proudly promotes Galina Mihaylova, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Principal of the Firm, to Director of Design. She will lead the design team with her architectural vision focused primarily on designing for user wellbeing.

“Galina is a pure designer. She’s the most talented designer I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. Her sensitivity to proportion and materials really make a building special, and our clients pick up on that,” said Chief Design Officer Dave Larson, AIA. “She will be a bridge to young people in the firm with the maturity she gives to projects. Our success is based on providing good solutions our clients are pleasantly surprised about and with Galina that’s where we are headed.”

Since joining TMP in 2016, Mihaylova has designed with the philosophy that good architecture can change your mood. She believes in creating spaces that are functional, memorable, and meaningful. Mihaylova has applied her design expertise and passion to major education projects for the Troy School District, Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, as well as Michigan State University’s School of Packaging and University of Michigan’s Dance Building. Mihaylova believes schools should be a safe space. “Coming to school feeling safe and welcome builds identity,” she says.

Growing up in Bulgaria, Mihaylova aspired to become an architect but instead earned her Master of Aerospace Engineering at Technical University of Sofia in Plovdiv. Upon moving to the United States, Mihaylova fulfilled her dream completing her Master of Architecture from Lawerence Technological University. An adjunct professor at Oakland Community College for more than 15 years, Mihaylova supports and inspires the next generation of architects.

Congratulations, Galina. TMP looks forward to continued success under your design leadership.
