Battle Creek’s Central High School, a 1908 building of 250,000 SF, received extensive upgrades and additions to respond to educational and global trends in education. Existing space was maximized and new space was added to create a powerful and creative learning environment accommodating over 1,400 students. Features include a 160,800 SF athletic and natatorium addition housing a physical education & fitness center, pool, and student and community locker rooms. Also featured in this project are upgraded administrative space, food service and a student dining/commons. Students enjoy an enhanced and expanded fine arts wing, which includes a broadcast studio, drawing/painting studio, ceramics/sculpture/jewelry studio and computer aided graphic design studio. Improvements were also made to the athletic fields, track, and tennis courts.
