A complete transformation occurred at Portage’s Central High School including a new 248,000 SF addition which surrounds the existing 29,600 SF auditorium and music practice rooms. Much of the existing high school remained intact during construction, so placement of new construction had to be carefully considered on the compact site. A new three-story academic tower, all new athletic spaces and a student dining/commons are connected by a grand corridor. The library media center, administrative offices and business classrooms are now centrally located. A new band room, woods lab and building support spaces complete the curriculum offerings.
