The windowless, dark and dreary libraries of Henry Ford II and Eisenhower high schools needed a lift. TMP worked with UCS to completely renovate the spaces to create light-filled, technology-driven spaces for students and staff. A new dramatic skylight brings natural light into the commons area and media center entry. Full ceiling-to-floor translucent glass surrounds the perimeter, providing views from the commons while blocking the unwelcome activity and noise.
The flexible space features many large open areas. Staff desks are out in the open, allowing for greater assistance and teaching opportunities. Students can easily be monitored without use of the center’s former intimidating and invasive security system. The media center café area features high tables and collaboration areas.
