Community, students and staff are proud of this LEED Silver certified 151,000 SF comprehensive high school. Public spaces and classrooms are flooded with natural light, providing a bright and airy feel. Classrooms are equipped with both motion sensors and photosensors that control lighting. Two-level light switching allows the artificial light levels to be adjusted automatically in response to the amount of daylight present. The school features an innovative bleacher system that deploys backward into the cafeteria to create a 663-seat auditorium. Sustainable features include a geothermal heating and cooling system and extensive energy recovery units; use of locally produced products; construction waste recycling; use of recycled products; and use of “green” cleaning products throughout the building.
