With a growing number of Kindergarten and First Grade students, Haslett Public Schools needed more space. The Wilkshire Early Childhood Center received major renovations and additions to bring new programs to the center. Twelve classrooms were added, as well as speech and counseling rooms and offices, a Group Motor Activity Center and a new main lobby. The eleven existing classrooms were renovated and corridors were updated with new carpeting, ceilings, lighting and paint. Updates also include the library, administrative office, music and art rooms, storage rooms and courtyard. The updated exterior design of the Center features an entry porch to maintain a residential quality. This residential appearance was reinforced through the use of sloped shingled roofs at the addition, also providing an easily maintainable roof system.
