Sheiko Elementary Wins Learning By Design Outstanding Project Award

Learning By Design Magazine recognized West Bloomfield School District’s New Sheiko Elementary, a project in partnership with TMP Architecture, with an Outstanding Project Award in their Spring 2025 Educational Facilities Design Awards Showcase.

The jury highlighted the design’s integration of Michigan’s natural and cultural features, which provide local identity and pride, while noting unique sculptural details fostering creativity, movement, and collaboration. Interactive displays provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences. Learning By Design states the project has set a new benchmark for contemporary learning space design and planning.

Learning By Design’s jury of esteemed education, architecture, and facility design experts commented,

“Unique finishes and varied collaborative learning spaces enhance the building’s character and appeal. The interior design is theatrical, adding an awe factor for elementary students.”

Projects submitted to the Spring 2025 Educational Facilities Design Awards Showcase are judged on six submission criteria: Design Challenges, Functional Design/Effective Space Planning, Sustainability and Social Impact, Next Generation Learning, and Meeting Community Needs.
