Perrysburg Schools’ new 900 student STEM school was designed by The Collaborative-TMP to reinforce an education model based on collaboration and teaming. TMP served as the educational planner/designer for the school. The facility contains learning studios for more structured instruction and adjacent collaboration centers for individual and group collaborative activities. These collaboration areas are open, flexible spaces interlaced with a series of glassed in special project spaces – all outfitted with mobile furniture and seamless access to tech systems.
Commercial Flooring of Toledo, LLC, a Starnet Member and partner of The Collaborative-TMP on this project, integrated various methods to aid the district. By incorporating Amtico LVT, a hard-wearing and practical material that also allows for branding and wayfinding applications throughout a good portion of the project, flexibility and exploration among the students is encouraged. Thoughtful applications of the Gerflor vinyl flooring with a cushion-back to prevent injuries in case of impact and the Johnsonite treads and risers with integrated visually-impaired strips to foster life-safety were incorporated to enhance the safety of the young learners. The Johnsonite rubber tile provides the slip-resistance necessary to prevent falls, allowing students the resilience to experiment and play.
